Death

I really think that Charlie may be one of the most potentially inventive people I have ever met. Sometimes he looks at the world at a 90-degree angle from how everyone else does. So far nothing has had any practical application, but its only a matter of time. With his mindset I would not be surprised if he did something great one day.

I realised this when we were looking around a churchyard in Brading and he asked if, when you die, you can have half your body buried and the other half cremated… Our immediate reaction was that no you can’t do that, but that was just a reflex based on the knowledge that nobody has done it or would want to (as far as we know) but thinking about it – why can’t you?

It might be difficult to find someone willing and able to cut the body in half lengthwise (he insists that is the way to do it) and there may be some obscure bit of law that says you can’t do it, but really if thats what you want, why not?

Obviously an open-casket funeral would be pushing it a bit far though.

And I thought that my own ideas were strange! (the hybrid zimmer frame/pogo stick to help pensioners get to the front of bus queues springs to mind)
