Right said Fred

I’ve seen the future – and its called Freddie Sears!   That is one lad who must be still pinching himself today.   An 18-year-old West Ham supporter, plucked from the reserves to sit on the bench in a Premier League game, he came on as a sub for the last quarter of an hour and scored within five minutes with virtually his first touch of the ball.

When the keeper saved his shot he reacted well and headed in the rebound. Best of all was his celebration: turning to the crowd with his arms crossed to symbolise the crossed hammers of West Ham’s crest.  Guaranteed to make him a local hero.

It all left me with no idea who to cheer on  today.  Spurs were playing Man City – the teams immediately above and below us.  A win for Spurs would mean that we stayed only two points behind City with a chance of climbing a place.  A win for City would mean us keeping a big gap below us – useful if we slip up again and lose a few more games 4-nil.

Talking of which, losing like that was nasty, but now we have won a game it means we have three points from the last four games.  That’ sonly one point worse tha Arsenal with their four draws in a row!

Anyway, Spurs lost, which is always good, and now they have Boro and Wigan snapping at their heels.  Fulham beat Everton and can see a bit of light at the end of the tunnel, with a chance to escape if Newcastle and Birmingham do  badly enough.  Its all shaping up to be an exciting end to the season.
