Just noticed that WordPress v2.7 is now available on my host’s Fantastico package so I think I’m going to upgrade right now. Been itching to do it since 2.7 came out, but having been spoiled by having Fantastico doing all the installations and upgrades here I was really reluctant to go back to doing such […]

Graham Stringer
January 15th, 2009 · 5 Comments · Politics
The most efficient responses to Graham Stringer’s bizarre outburst about dyslexia would be one word long. “Idiot” for example. Other responses could be book-length disections of his remarks. I’ll seek the middle ground on this one…

Council’s help
January 15th, 2009 · 6 Comments · Politics
The Crawley News has a piece about the council’s measures to help the town’s economy and try to protect residents from the worst effects as the global economy melts down. Its a very laudable ambition and I’m sure some of the measures are very sensible, which makes me feel a bit churlish to snipe away […]

Artful dodger

David Cerny must be laughing himself hoarse about the fuss over his sculpture. Not just at the chance to have a pop at every other country but for the wide-boy chancer way he got the commission and let the EU think the work was getting the involvement of artists from all the other countries.

Jayne’s school are doing some sort of thing about different countries this week. As part of it they wanted music from a variety of countries: Australia, Scotland, the Caribbean, Uganda, Spain and some others. Knowing that I have a fair few foreign records she asked if she could borrow some of mine.

Chart fun
January 12th, 2009 · 1 Comment · Music
This has to be the best chart I have seen in ages… the heavy metal band names flowchart. ((OK, so its not really a flowchart as we know it))  Its not perfect (no Saxon for a start, Pantera are not foreign and Ragnarok is not in the book of revelations) but its both fascinating and […]
