The new Pet Shop Boys album, Yes, was released today and I went on to Spotify to listen to it.  You don’t really fire up a new PSB album and expect any surprises, but this had one at the end: not a hidden track ((Horrid things. Can’t stand them)) but a commentary track like you get on DVDs.I don’t know if this is available on the CD itself or is just a Spotify thing for now, but I have never heard of such a thing before. Will it catch on? It doesn’t really do it for me. I listened to a bit then skipped onto a few Fad Gadget tracks, but maybe I would listen to it if I was in the right mood. Or maybe not.
I used to go through all the various director and actor commentaries on DVD when it was a new thing, but don’t often bother now.
As for the normal part of the album… as good as anything else they have done in the last 10 years, but not as exciting as the first three albums. There are a few tracks that I expect to grow on me if I let them.
