Vidler does it again

Another little masterpiece from Mark Vidler (AKA Go Home Productions) from a new 4-track EP.

All four tracks can be downloaded as MP3s on the GHP site, along with some older stuff too.   On the old GHP site tracks would often be available for only a short time, so I’m in the habit of grabbing what I like straight away just in case it disappears. There are a few big names in the bootleg/mash-up field and, no doubt, hundreds of gifted amateurs in bedrooms around the world, but Mark Vidler is my favourite, not just for his skill in stitching tracks together but also for his choice of tracks, drawing from rock, R&B, rap, 70s pop, punk and sorts of other music.  Not many of the mash-up artists will use Paul McCartney and Wings songs, Mud’s Tiger Feet, Status Quo or Crowded House.

Being honest, quite a few of the tracks I enjoy more for the novelty than as something to enjoy as a piece of music and after 30 seconds I might stop listening after getting the punchline so to speak, but there are quite a few that are also good to just play.  The mixup of  Madonna’s Ray of Light and Pretty Vacant is one of those and it has become popular in its own right.
