Well not my birthday but Jayne’s. Instead of material goods I treated Jayne to some memories this year. For a long time she has really wanted to go to the London Dungeon. We did try to go once before but the queues were two hours long so we gave up: this time I booked tickets […]

Now that Charlie works he wants to be more independent. He can’t afford to get his own place yet so he tries to be independent at home, buying and cooking his own food instead of being tied down to family meal times. I just discovered one small downside to this cunning plan, when he calmly […]
19th Nervous Breakdown

Its GCSE results day tomorrow…Â I’m kind of glad that I will be at work and safe from the critical mass of nervous energy, anticipation, dread, expectation and teenage angst that will be brewing up in the vicinity of many homes and every secondary school tomorrow.

Nothing wrong with predictable

I was quite happy to get some predictable gifts on Father’s Day.  A book about football, some stealth slippers and Paul Weller’s new CD.   I was dropping hints about the slippers before Christmas! The old ones had harder soles and were louder than any outdoor footwear I have ever had – including football boots.

We had a trip to Hastings today. Frankie was moving into his first flat of his own, a studio in St. Leonards. Its one of those imposing Georgian (I think) buildings around Warrior Square: very handy for shops, the beach and the railway station but a bugger for parking, especially in good weather.  Jayne has […]
End of the holidays

The school holidays are over now, not that it makes much difference to me because I don’t work in a school, but the rest of the house have been off for two weeks. Last week they all went off camping, leaving me to my own devices for a while. I had a couple of evenings […]

My brother-in-law also works in computers, but is much more ‘technical’ than me ((that’s a euphemism for ‘geeky’ I think)) – I know: it’s hard to believe from the photo isn’t it? Anyway, despite my comparative lack of skills, or should that be skillz?, I still get roped into a lot of favours for people, […]
Walking Tall

Its safe to say that Chas was surprised by his Christmas present. He had not been asking for stunt stilts, but Jayne had a hunch he would be chuffed, and fortunately he was. Even the fact that it was drizzly and nasty on the 25th didn’t stop him going out, although he didn’t get too […]
