Pardon me while schadenfreude takes over for a moment, but I did enjoy the question on football365 today. In a story with the headline “Let’s all laugh at Tottenham”, it says: Again. The team that was supposed to be taking a Champions League spot from Arsenal remain just a point above the relegation zone after […]

Turkey

Today we either had an early Christmas dinner or a day-late Thanksgiving dinner. We went up to Essex to visit my sister for lunch and she was kind enough to cook turkey. I like turkey, but we never have it at home. For Christmas we usually have beef and pork. The afternoon was a bit […]
A great weekend for British sport!

I can’t understand why everyone is so gloomy about sport this week. West Ham won and avoided slipping down the table, the English rugby team turned around a tournament which they started by losing 36-nil and ended up almost winning it, and Lewis Hamilton came within a point of winning the F1 title in his […]
No news is good news

On the BBC Sports web site the latest news item on West Ham is the match report of our 3-0 win over Middlesboro. The previous news item for West Ham is our 3-0 win over Reading two weeks ago. This is brilliant. Not just because the last two games have been 3-0 victories but because […]

Trevor Brooking is magic…

…and we all agree That used to be the chant at Upton Park. I was amused to find a group on Facebook called All hail Sir Trevor Brooking, but even more amused to see that it is categorised under “Common Interest – Religion & Spirituality”
Goals galore!

There was something like 22 goals in today’s 7 premier league games, with the Liverpool/Derby game and Fulham/Spurs games having 6 each, but the three most important goals were obviously those scored by West Ham at Reading. The last time we went to the Madejski we got stuffed 6-0, so winning there this time was […]

Dyer Straits

How can something be simultaneously unbelievable and totally inevitable? Kieron Dyer managed to last a whole 12 days in claret & blue before getting carried off with a suspected broken leg. Bloody typical, but at least we now know why West Ham have a 350-strong squad these days.
Like my dreams they fade and die

Bugger! Not a great start for West Ham. Its some sort of consolation that after all their heavy spending and talk about breaking into the top four Spurs also lost. Looking on the bright side, Crawley Town beat Stevenage so they now only need another win to reach zero points.

Injury crisis already?
July 19th, 2007 · 1 Comment · Life
Just over three weeks until the football season starts and West Ham’s new £6.1m player, who signed for the club less than three weeks ago is injured and probably won’t be able to play until February. Another bargain! Its like Dean Ashton all over again.

New dicky dirt

The West Ham club website is pushing the new strip, complete with the new sponsor’s name plastered across it – the holiday company XL.com I might have to get one… its been a long time since I managed to squeeze into an XL shirt.
