Sunday canvassing

April 24th, 2005 · Posted by Skuds in Politics · No Comments · Politics

I knocked at a door today while canvassing, and a lady answered. She said that she did not vote because she is a Jehova’s Witness and does not believe that any party devised by man can be any good. I just said “Ah. So now I have knocked on your door. That makes a change.” She says she has already voted for the Kingdom of Heaven and is waiting for it to arrive. I wonder if that was a postal vote? I didn’t ask about her 4 sons. Even if they have not been indoctrinated into the JW attitudes its not easy to ask to speak to them without it sounding like ‘and can I speak to your boys and try to tempt them away from the path of righteousness?’

I also had a lady who was undecided and seemed very pleasant, until she came out with the dreaded phrase “I don’t think I will vote for any party until they start putting English people first.” Sounds like she is thinking what Michael Howard is thinking.
