I went up to see Spizzenergi at the 100 Club in OXford Street tonight. I had never been to the 100 Club before, and it was a bit of an anti-climax. The band were good though, and the support, a band called Stained Glass Heroes, were interesting.
SGH did a version of an old Spizz song from his first album (1980’s Do A Runner) called Personimpersonator and Spizz joined them to sing it. I thought it sounded good, and wonder why Spizz himself doesn’t do it live.
Its days like today that I wish I still lived in London, in ‘Zone 2’. I used to go out to the West End all the time, and at the end of the evening it was just a matter of getting a night bus home or a train if they were still running. Now its a major travelling exercise, especially on a Sunday. I was going to drive the old Astra down to Three Bridges station, but found that the battery was dead and had to walk down to the bus stop and got soaked, then found that only slow trains were available to London Bridge and nothing to Victoria. I will have to start getting into the Brighton scene or something.
