What a fantastic quote from Michael Howard, saying that his position in the opinion polls is just like a football team being two-nil down at half time – they can still come back in the second half and win the game.
OK. So it does happen, but at the moment it is like Canvey Island being two-nil down to Arsenal in a cup tie – they are lucky to only be two-nil down!
Somehow I can’t imagine that a football manager in his half time team talk is going to say “OK chaps. I know we are two-nil down, but its only like being 6 points behind in the opinion polls a week before the election”
