With all the kids away at various places today, Jayne and I went down to the Hawth to visit the International Mela. It got a good bit of publicity yesterday on the BBC South-East news, but it wasn’t the same vibe as last year. Partly this is because we went without any children, but a […]

Surrounded by the Police

Here is a little story from my youth. Sorry about the length. It does get topical by the end. Honest. I had arranged to meet an old college friend on the South Bank, outside the NFT. There was a bit of a cock-up over the time. I thought we were meeting at 6 and he […]

Oh dear. My iRiver is finally full – there is only 3Mb of space left on the disk. If I want to get some more of my vinyl on there, or buy anything new, I will have to start deleting stuff, because my budget doesn’t stretch to getting a 40Gb model just yet. I already […]

Tube strike?

Up on the roof

We don’t talk about 2001… (Actually I can’t remember any accidents that year. We probably just lost the plaque, but why spoil a good caption?)

Outside the building (2)

Our own ‘twin towers’. I started working here in July 2001. Shortly after September 11th this view from the front door was quite unsettling, especially as we are near the flight paths for London City Airport. Looking up and seeing planes flying past two tower blocks had a certain resonance which still hasn’t quite gone […]

This is our entertainment during smoking breaks. That road leads down to a sharp right turn under the railway bridge, which has concrete barriers around it. Despite all those signs we still get a remarkable number of buses, coaches and lorries who go straight down the hill and get wedged in.
