Broadfield Fete

August 5th, 2005 · Posted by Skuds in Technology · No Comments · Technology

Just a reminder to any Broadfield/Crawley readers that tomorrow afternoon sees the highlight of Broadfield’s social calendar – the summer fete at the community centre.

Unfortunately we couldn’t solicit any donations suitable for an auction, so I won’t have to do that. I’m relegated to just reading out the raffle numbers.

I blame Al Qaeda for this. Really.

We wanted to be able to auction something which money could not buy. Within town there are a couple of companies who make flight simulators and some airlines who have them installed for training pilots. These are impressive beasts. They are like £1 million implementations of Microsoft Flight Simulator. Normally you would not get a chance to have a go on one unless you were training to be a commercial pilot. We did talk to some people about letting us have a slot to auction, but in the current security climate none of them considered it a good idea.

Anyway, you won’t be able to buy a go with an extremely expensive toy, but there are loads of raffle prizes instead, music, entertainment, food, drink and lots of stalls.
