Looking up who you share a birthday with must be a commonly done thing. With the Internet its so easy to do as well. So the big question is how did I reach my 40s without bothering to do it?
I have just discovered (through Wikipedia) that I share my birthday with (among others):
- Miguel de Cervantes (now I feel guilty about not finishing Don Quixote!)
- Horatio Nelson (wish I had known that when I went on the Victory just the other week)
- Enrico Fermi
- Michaelangelo Antonioni (my favourite film director. What a result.)
- Silvio Berlusconi
- Jean-Luc Ponty (time to dig out that LP of his from the loft?)
- Lech Walesa
- Sebastian Coe
- Andriy Shevchenko (who Wikipedia refers to as “Ukrainian footballerer”)
Previously the only person I knew of with the same birthday was my old boss on the Underground – who turned out to be a step brother of one of Crawley’s Tory councillors. And I am still convinced that he only employed me so he could go halves on the cream cakes and save a few quid.
