I have spent a few hours looking over documentation for WordPress, MySQL and phpMyAdmin and realised just how ignorant I am of the whole unix thing. I had intended to install WordPress this weekend but thats all gone out the window. I’m going to do some self-education before I am able to feel the full […]

Unlike Manchester United, West Ham are not out of the FA cup yet. Thanks to a rather dull-sounding nil-nil draw at the Reebok we will be playing Bolton again at Upton Park. Something to look forward to. The Liverpool/Man U game this afternoon was anything but dull. A brilliant game for neutrals to watch.

My undying gratitude to Stodge for making me aware of a new blog started by the great John Kricfalusi, creator of Ren & Stimpy. Loads of original artwork and tasters of work in progress.

Bloggers’ birthday party

The Bloggers4Labour site has been up and running for a year now, and a few members (or should that be supporters or participants?) went for a few drinks to celebrate. Great for me as it was up in Westminster and therefore easy to get to after work. It did mean that it was a long […]

Fallen Heroes
February 16th, 2006 · Comments Off on Fallen Heroes · Life
How sad when one of your heroes turns out to have feet of clay . I’m sure I will never forget that goal against Manchester United in the FA cup where Barthez just stood there with his hand in the air expecting an offside decision, while Di Canio tapped the ball past him into the […]
Quiet Desperation

The phrase “quiet desperation” has always appealed to me. It crops up twice in Pink Floyd lyrics. I always assumed that Roger Waters came up with it and was so pleased with himself that he used it again. Today I came across the phrase in the book The Dice Man by Luke Rhinehart, and from […]
Bad e-mail day

I got home from work today to find 12 e-mails waiting for me. 7 were just spam/advertising Of those 3 were what I would call dodgy – software for 20% of the list price, or obscure mails with just a link to a geocities URL 3 were fraudulent phishing attempts – two purporting to be […]
Smoking ban?

It looks like our MP is on a roll! First of all there were the signs of a re-think on the so-called ‘fourth option’ on council housing funding. I know she has been going up to London with the leader of the council to lobby ministers about this – which is only official Labour party […]

Voodoo

Its a bit naff repeating jokes made on TV, but the comment on Mock The Week the other day is still tickling me. With acupuncture you stick pins in yourself to make you feel better. With voodoo, on the other hand, you stick pins into something that looks like someone else to make them feel […]
Still blowing bubbles!

Work did its best to prevent me from seeing the game on TV tonight, but I managed to get home just in time to catch the last twenty minutes or so. Level with Arsenal on points in February – who would have thought it? 7 wins in a row – a fitting tribute to Ron […]
