I am getting a bit annoyed about Pulse.
Back in November it was supposed to be coming out on DVD in time for Christmas and I was dropping major hints to Jayne about it. When she tried to buy it she was told by the shop that it was not coming out until January. I checked up on Amazon in the new year and saw a release date of February.
Now it has slipped to October 9 2006!
This is the film of a 1994 concert. How long does it take to re-master a concert? I’m not in the business, but 12 years seems like a bit of a long time to me, so I can only assume there is either a marketing or legal reason for the delay. Whatever it is it can’t have been expected, as the DVD was being advertised in magazines in 2005.
Legal would be bad. Given the history of litigation within Pink Floyd, a legal hold-up could run and run.
A marketing reason is still bad if it is causing delay, but could be good if it implies there is something else coming out which they are either trying not to clash with or trying to clash with. Dare we hope for announcements of a 2007 tour, to be tied in with the October 2006 release of Pulse?
