On the way to… er.. Cardiff?

What a result tonight! With so many games against Bolton this season I guess it was our turn to finally win one. What an interesting statistic that one of our newer players, Scaloni, had only played 6 games so for us far but 3 of them were against Bolton.

And what a night for seeing old friends on the TV coverage. Apart from Sir Trevor Brooking (pbuh) in the studio there was a great shot of 4 current football managers all sitting in a row – Stuart Pearce, Iain Dowie, Harry Redknapp and Alan Curbishly. All ex-Hammers to various degrees, and two of them managing teams we have to play in the next week.

Its going to be a tough week, with games on Saturday and Monday after tonight’s extended replay, but its amazing to think that after knocking Bolton out tonight we could find ourselves, this time next week, in the last 4 of the FA Cup.

Listening to Brooking talk tonight, I realised that he is nowhere near as posh as he looks. Back in the 70s and 80s we didn’t get to hear footballers speak that much. I think we all just assumed he was posh because he looked it. Mind you, compared to many footballers he is, and still the nearest thing Essex atheists have to a object of worship.
