Peckham Rolex

March 20th, 2006 · 2 Comments · Life

Peckham Rolex is apparently what they are calling electronic tags. I am adding it to the queue of names for the What A Great Name For A Band website. Must get round to updating that soon.

From four goals to last four

March 20th, 2006 · Comments Off on From four goals to last four · Life

Its been a funny couple of weeks. Two weeks running and the Hammers let in four goals at the weekend then progress another round in the FA cup. It really was stupid playing the quarter final so soon after the replay. Forget about time for the team to recover and train – what about time […]

Anti-Nazi event in South-East London

March 20th, 2006 · 2 Comments · Politics

While the Crawley UAF may not be fully-formed yet, other areas are more active. Greenwich UAF are organising some anti-Nazi leafletting in Eltham – an area which really does have a BNP problem – for the next 5 Saturdays. If anyone is interested and can get to Eltham at 11:30 on a Saturday morning, let […]

Parcelnet and Amazon

March 19th, 2006 · Comments Off on Parcelnet and Amazon · Life

I think that Parcelnet must be hot topic at the moment. I have noticed that a lot of visitors are coming here having searched for Parcelnet on Google and found this post. To recap: a lot of people have seem to have had trouble with deliveries sent via Parcelnet, but something I ordered arrived quickly […]

(Another) four-goal drubbing

March 18th, 2006 · 2 Comments · Life

West Ham managed to ship another four goals today, for the second week running. It doesn’t feel as bad as last week because we at least got two in reply, it was Harry Redknapp’s team who beat us, and we are keeping our fingers crossed that the Hammers were saving up their energy for Monday […]

Reading on the train

March 18th, 2006 · Comments Off on Reading on the train · Life

BNP Activity in Crawley

March 18th, 2006 · Comments Off on BNP Activity in Crawley · Politics

The BNP have been delivering some especially nasty leaflets in Crawley recently. Copies have been sent to the Town Hall and to Sussex police, as some recipients feel that they are offensive enough to be illegal under electoral and normal laws.

Disabled parking bays

March 18th, 2006 · Comments Off on Disabled parking bays · Life

Today I saw a beautiful sight. I was at the Broadfield Barton shops and saw one of the council’s community wardens Range Rovers parked up there. As I came back to the shops I saw the wardens themselves checking all the cars in the disabled parking bays to see if they had proper disabled badges. […]

Steam

March 17th, 2006 · Comments Off on Steam · Life, Technology

While I was waiting at Clapham Junction for a train home yesterday an old-fashioned steam train passed through the station on the way to Victoria (I am guessing). Trains were already electrified by the time I was born, so I have seen very few full-sized steam locomotives, but whenever I have seen them I have […]

Flat screen fun

March 17th, 2006 · 2 Comments · Work

I was trying something a bit unusual today. My monitor at work is a nice big 19″ TFT screen and I was trying to take a photograph of the desk behind it so I could use it as wallpaper for Windows. The idea was that I could minimise all my applications and it would look […]
