Internal party politics

April 8th, 2006 · Posted by Skuds in Politics · No Comments · Politics

Every party has a bit of internal struggle from time to time, whether it is the Labour party with its “old” v. “new” arguments, the Tories with their Eurosceptics, or Kilroy-Silk falling out with whichever party he is in, but by far the most amusing internal row I have seen for ages is in the BNP.

Unbelievably, many of the members are complaining that the odious Nick Griffin is not racist enough for them! The problem is that they have selected a candidate with a foreign name to contest a seat.

BNP spokesman Phil Edwards said those members who refused to accept the candidacy had no place in the party.

Which looks to me like the leadership is accusing those members of being too racist to be in the BNP, which is a bit like accusing someone of being too eccentric for the Monster Raving Looney party.

You really couldn’t make it up could you?
