The Black Swan in Pease Pottage re-opened yesterday.
This was a major event for us. Not because we drink a lot, but because Frankie works in the kitchens and it means he will be back at work again.
I don't think the whole re-opening was terribly well publicised. After we had finished what campaigning we were doing (a street stall at the local shops and some delivering of newspapers) Jayne had a call from the boy to say that the pub was nearly empty and decided we would pop in for a late lunch instead of eating at home.
At first I could not see why the place had been closed for so long. The bar area did not look so different – just new furniture and decoration and the floor looks several shades lighter. Then I took a look towards the back, and saw that it really has been extended a lot in that direction.
The other big difference is that instead of having a family area as the only area where smoking is not allowed, the pub is all no-smoking apart from the small section at the front, around the corner from the bar.
