One thing I learned today is that there is a name for the network of small venues in Britain for smaller bands on tour, and it is called the toilet circuit.
I'm a bit suspicious of this though. I think someone is pulling Wikipedia's leg. I have been going to concerts of all sizes for nearly 30 years, read the NME every week for several years and for a time also read Sounds and Melody Maker but I have never heard the term before.
The other thing I found on Wikipedia today is that Carlos Tevez shares his birthday (February 5th) with Cristiano Ronaldo, Sven-Goran Eriksson, Gheorghe Hagi and Giovanni Van Bronckhorst. Might crop up in a pub quiz one day. You never know.

I’m pretty sure I’ve come across the term before. But I always assumed it was a reference to the “dressing rooms” being the in toilet.

I have played at the Forum in Tunbridge Wells (which is europe’s largest toilet – the club not the town … well maybe) but I heard the term toilet circuit when playing in leeds to refer to a group of clubs in leeds/bradford/manchester/liverpool where as stated the chainging rooms were quite often converted (a sign blue tacked to the door) toilets. it may have spread to include all small venues though.

According to Wikipedia the Forum in Tunbridge Wells is what gave the toilet circuit its name, as it was converted from a public toilet.

So do we still think Tevez a ‘good thing’? I’m sure the run of results is just a grisly coincidence but I haven’t yet had the benefit of T.O.M.’s wisdom yet….

Maybe its like an organ transplant – you put a perfectly good new liver in someone but their body rejects it?
