Over on the BBC web site there is a corner given over to The Daily Politics. Yesterday there was a piece written by Alex James, the bass player of Blur giving his thoughts on the Conservative conference. His qualification for this seems to be that he comes from Bournemouth.
At first I found this quote of his amusing:
I don’t think I’ve ever met a politician I haven’t liked
I could just imagine readers wondering what alternative reality he lives in, such is the low opinion the population have of politicians generally, but then I thought about it a bit more. He wasn’t commenting on their abilities, opinions, or promise-keeping; just their personal charm. I imagine that plenty of otherwise odious politicians are quite likeable in person. Its how they got their job. And he probably meets them quite briefly at functions where he is introduced and they just exchange a few pleasantries.
Still hasn’t changed my opionion that Albarn is the brains of the band though.
