Aches

June 7th, 2007 · Posted by Skuds in Technology · 1 Comment · Technology

My arms still really ache from when I beat Jayne up on Tuesday night.  Perhaps I should clarify that a bit…

Someone gave her a Wii the other day and when I got home she insisted that I have a go.  First of all she thrashed me at tennis, having had the benefit of an afternoon's practise, and then she thought she would do the double by beating me at boxing too.  I was well on the way to being defeated when I discovered that you could make up for a lack of experience by just being really energetic and finished off a sustained barrage of punches with a knockout blow.

I can see the novelty appeal of the Wii but I think that will wear off soon.  I just hope that happens before one of us connects with my low-hanging lights when they are getting carried away.

The scariest thing is that you can get so focussed on what you are controlling on the screen that you forget about your own physical presence and the fact that in a doubles game of tennis your real opponent is not facing you across a net but standing next to you.  There were a few near misses and the chances of getting a visit to the new urgent treatment centre at Crawley Hospital are increasing by the hour.

My boss, who can’t pass a day without a double entendre, got a Wii for his 6 year olds birthday and can’t understand why I find the name so amusing. Maybe the Japanese don’t have a childish word for urine?
