I had an e-mail today from some unknown person asking me to be their friend on MySpace. I don’t know what that is all about. I think I set up an account on there ages ago as that was the only way I could make contact with the band Skudder and access their pages and then forgot about it.
I have not put in any personal details at all, and have been keeping well away from the whole thing. I can only imagine that there is some sort of kudos in having a long list of ‘friends’ even if their only purpose is to make the list longer.
I think I shall decline politely. Maybe I am generalising, but I still regard MySpace as a place for teenagers and musicians and unfortunately it is a long time since I was one and there is no chance of me becoming the other.

That’s just Rupert trying to be your friend – on HisSpace 😉

I’ve been recommended to try Facebook instead – on the strength of the fact that the recommendee’s feckless teenage sister doesn’t think much of it. Rob has a MySpace account but most of those who want to be his friend are young women with a lack of clothes. I think I’ll get him to try Facebook as well.

To be honest, I think both MySpace and Facebook are fads.

I thought the same thing about blogs when they first started and now see that I am fast approaching the 3rd birthday of this one!
Maybe I will see off MySpace & Facebook yet.
