A couple of Argus headlines

Fire chiefs warn about washed up wood bonfires
8:34am, Sunday 17th Feb
Washed up timber set alight
The free-for-all comment section on the second story raises most of the points that occurred to me, like:
- Is all that wood still there?
- Was it an amazing piece of foresight by the fire chiefs, or did they somehow give someone the idea to set fire to the wood?
- Was it “drunken revellers” who caused the fire or “arsonists”?
The way I understand it, arson is the deliberate destruction of something by fire. The warning was that somebody making a bonfire could lead to a larger fire. If that happened, it would not be arson would it?
Anyway, the prompt arrival of a fire so soon after the paper prints a story saying that it might happen is a bit of a coincidence isn’t it?
