The close of the January transfer window arrived today, with no last-minute surprise deals for West Ham. The only activity from the Hammers in the transfer market in the whole month was to sell Hogan Ephraim to QPR and let three players go on loan.
While it is always a little exciting to see a new big-name signing, we all know that its just a February long-term injury waiting to happen in our case so its just as well we have not had our expectations too much.
The way things are going at the moment, Curbishley is well within his rights to feel happy enough with the squad he has. Even though we have never had fewer than two or three key players injured at any time we are now comfortably in the top half, with a game in hand and 8 points gap between us and the bottom half, having beaten Liverpool and Man Utd on the way.
At this moment we have Portsmouth and Blackburn in our sights and are only 5 points off a European place and starting to get nosebleeds! I reckon we could easily be up to 8th by this time next week.
