I finally had a go on Charlie’s stilts today. I have to say that, despite it looking very difficult to walk on them, it is actually harder than it looks.
I made it a couple of metres along the front path and then halfway back before collapsing to the floor – and even then I had to have the help of a fifteen-year-old girl holding me up.
Thinking about it, the kids all had trouble at first and are now bouncing all over the place, so maybe I should give it another go – but with a helmet next time. And elbow pads.
Jayne helpfully filmed my journey from vertical to horizontal, which will be on YouTube just as soon as hell freezes over.
