Getting Me Down

August 26th, 2008 · Posted by Skuds in Life · No Comments · Life

Scar trying to take up all the chair. Rojo is determined to get comfortable anyway.

I have been expressing my britishness this bank holiday weekend by indulging in some DIY and moaning about the weather.  Just as well I was born here because according to this test I wouldn’t be let in if I wasn’t.

Today was a big day for young Rojo though: we went out and bought him his first collar.  He has been a real nuisance with the front door – trying to get out every chance he has so we thought we would get a collar with our phone number on and unlock the cat flap for him.

While we were at it we got a new collar for Scar too, having removed his old one ages ago to give his neck a rest, so we got two collars, two engraved name tags, and a couple of new magnets for the cat flap.  Not that Scar needs a magnet: he has learned how to pull the door open to get in anyway, although having it locked for the last few weeks has confused him.  Within an hour of putting the collars on Scar came in looking naked and very smug about having ditched the collar, tag and magnet that all cost good money.

Even though Rojo now has his freedom I still get a bit worried about him being outside with all the big cats, and when I realised I hadnot seen him for a while this evening I decided to go and have a little look.  No sign of him out the back so I looked outside the front door.  No sign there either, but I could hear a squeak.

It slowly dawned on me that the squeak was coming from above.  In fact it was coming from about 4 metres up the tree in our front garden.  I thought that cats only got stuck up trees in cartoons, but now I know that they really are stupid enough to climb up things that they can’t climb down again.  We ended up getting the ladder out and sending Charlie up the tree in the dark to rescue the kitten.

On the plus side, the old cat is starting to tolerate the new one a bit more now.
