Help wanted – from Labour Party members

July 15th, 2009 · Posted by Skuds in Politics · No Comments · Politics

My constituency party currently operates on the time-honoured branch/constituency model, with the constituency general meetings being for delegates from branches.    We are thinking about the pros and cons of moving to all-member constituency meetings where any member can attend and vote instead of only having delegates from branches voting.

I am familiar with the all-member model, because that is how Horsham CLP works, but they have always operated that way so can’t teach us anything about moving from one model to the other.  Is there anybody out there who can help?

If anybody can point us at a constituency that has made the change, we can then contact them and ask some questions, like:

  • Did it work?
  • Was it easy to do?
  • Are you tempted to change back?
  • How has it affected attendance at constituency meetings?
  • What problems have you encountered?
