I will freely admit to having been a bit of a swot at school. I can remember, even at primary school, reading through science books in school holidays, and taking some interest in the different types of clouds, and how they formed.
Even so, I had never heard of mammatus clouds until I came across this page by accident today. This type of cloud is not common, but it is awesome. There are only half a dozen photos of mammatus clouds on this page, but they are all stunning. If the site did not belong to a university which contains a regional climate centre I would have suspected them of being photoshopped.
