The BBC web site’s Magazine section features a quote every day.
Today its a pearl of wisdom from Derek of Big Brother fame
“I don’t have the right not to say what I don’t believe.”
Its very reminiscent of Boris Johnson’s famous
“I could not fail to disagree with you less”
When I say I can’t understand the Tories I mean it literally! Is there anyone in the world (including Derek & Boris) who can work out what either quote means? The Derek quote seems to be saying that he is obliged to say things he doesn’t mean. Can any passing pedant or semantic genius help out?
