(S)no(w) rubbish collection

February 10th, 2007 · Posted by Skuds in Life · 2 Comments · Life

Thursday’s light dusting of snow merely made me get to work about 2 minutes later than normal. Traffic was very light and it was only the need to drive a bit slower than normal which held us up. Everyone else seemed to be able to get in OK as well. Even Chrystal’s school was open this time, much to her disgust. Just about the only impact on us was that our rubbish was not collected.

We got home in the evening to find all the bags still by the kerb. We left them out in case the binmen came round today to catch up and they were still there again this evening. Apparently the recycling bins were emptied, even though the rubbish bags were not collected, and even though the recycling is picked up by trucks every bit as large as the rubbish ones.

Its a bit frustrating really as rubbish collection is just about the only council service I directly use to any extent and it already gets messed up 6 times a year by public holidays.

Opposite problem over here in Islington, Skuds. The beggars didn’t pick up my recycling on Thursday. Ok, there was snow but when I checked Upper Street wasn’t buried.

There is a happy ending. The bin bags were collected on Saturday morning, by which time a lot of the contents had been spread over the road by the local cat population of course.
