Holidays always seem to be over so quickly.. Two weeks have flown by and its back to work tomorrow, so time to worry about all the usual things:
- Can I still remember all my passwords?
- Can I still remember how to get to the office?
- Will I be able to get up early?
- How many e-mails will be waiting for me?
- Has the company re-organised in my absence?
- What will the response be to my newly-shaven head?
- Do I know where I left my security pass?
Its the re-organising one which is always the biggest worry. When I was still at Waterloo it felt like every time I was away for any length of time I would return to find I had a new boss or a new job, or that my desk had been moved or something like that.

Can I still remember all my passwords? Well, I think I only have one: if there’s more than one, I’, definitely f**ked.
Can I still remember how to get to the office? Given they’re actually relocating the offices in my absence this summer, I’m holding limited hope on that…
Will I be able to get up early? Up, yes. Functionally conscious? Limited chance till after noon.
How many e-mails will be waiting for me? Thankfully, or stupidly, I opted to check my emails from work periodically at home over the vacation. hard to know whether going back to several hundred would have been more or less fun…
Has the company re-organised in my absence? Technically, the move is PART of a reorganisation: I also spotted that our new section abbreviation is SOS. I think I know how they feel.
What will the response be to my newly-shaven head? Erm, I’m booked in at the hairdressers Thursday. If I come out with a shaved head I think worrying about the work response is gonna be the least of the problems…
Do I know where I left my security pass? My employers changed security pass providers last summer. I’m hoping that means they haven’t changed them again.
My boss is back on Thursday after two weeks off and his password is due to change any day now. He does like to live dangerously… Mind you, I’m away from work now until Monday week and I’m sure when mine is due to change.
