Going down in history?

April 8th, 2008 · Posted by Skuds in Life · No Comments · Life

John Loughrey reckons he will go down in history for being the only member of the public to have attended every day of the Diana inquest.  Not so sure about that.  A few years down the line the inquest will be a small footnote in history at best.   Its a good story though, supplying a fantastic quote.

To give some idea of the sort of person Mr Loughrey is, Lord Justice Scott Baker said in his summing up:

No one except you and I and, I think, the gentleman in the public gallery with Diana and Dodi painted on his forehead has sat through every word of evidence

Which is as good a way to describe him as any I think.  He gave up his job and flat and put his life on hold to go to the inquest and when asked how he would adjust to normal life now the inquest is over he said:

It’s fine, I move on very quickly from things

Hang on…  eleven years after Diana died, he still parades himself in public, in tears, with “Diana” written on his forehead and he reckons he moves on very quickly?  I beg to differ.

But having said that, he seems to be otherwise quite sensible and rational.  At least he agrees that the whole thing was nothing more than a road traffic accident which puts him several rungs above the real delusional paranoids like Al Fayed.
